Program Information
Leduc Baseball Association provides baseball programming for athletes in 5U-18U baseball at the rec and 'A' levels. We collaborate with Beaumont Minor Baseball Association to host AAA and AA programming via the Black Gold 47's.
We are pleased to continue to provide indoor baseball programming for all athletes in 7U-18U as part of your registration. Indoor schedules will be posted as soon as they are available here as well as via our social media pages, indoor baseball will begin on March 17. Outdoor baseball will begin as soon as the City of Leduc declares the fields open, the earliest possible date the city declares the fields open is May 1 and we will keep registered athlete families updated as to when they will be able to take to the fields via email. As our start dates are dictated by the city, we cannot guarantee the first date of outdoor baseball for any age category, but as early in May as possible is always the goal. All rec programming ends in late June. Provincial A teams continue to play into July.
5U baseball is held on Monday and Wednesday nights at the Christ the King Fields, behind the Christ the King school on Rollyview Road. 5U baseball does not require parents to fulfill any volunteer credits as parents are expected to be available to help their athletes participate during each practice. 5U baseball is development focused, and does not include inter-team game play.
7U baseball is held at the Christ the King fields on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. 7U baseball only requires 1 volunteer credit per athlete as there is an expectation that parents are hands on during each practice. This program is also development focused and athletes are grouped by skill level into two tiers to ensure the developmental focus is appropriate to skill level.
9U baseball is held at various fields around Leduc and 9U rec teams all play one another throughout the season. 9U rec plays on weeknights, with at least one practice and one game scheduled per week. In 9U, LBA also offers two Travel Teams that play more competitive baseball against one another and other teams as available, enter tournaments, and have the opportunity to tryout for an underage provincial team that competes in U11 A provincials in July.
11U and 13U Leduc Giants baseball are divided into 'A' and rec teams.
- Our rec teams play in the CUB league and travel to the communities in this zone for CUB for game play. Typically travel includes such locations as Millet, Thorsby, Devon, Beaumont, etc. Teams generally have one game and one practice per week, and enter tournaments at the discretion of the team. The league season is comprised of 10 games followed by a final tournament weekend in late June.
- 'A' teams play in the YEGA league, they typically practice 1-2x per week with 1 game per week. LBA 'A' teams play in the YEGA finals at the end of June, and then continue their season into July with weekly practices and 2 playdown weekends, their season culminating in entry in the Baseball Alberta 'A' Provincials at their requisite tier.
